Los Angeles, Jan 13 (EFE News) .- "Joker" on Monday led the Oscar nominations with eleven nominations followed by "The Irishman", "1917" and "Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood", which have ten mentions per head, the Hollywood Academy announced.
The Spanish film "Dolor y gloria", by Pedro Almodóvar, will be a candidate in two sections: best international film and best actor with Antonio Banderas.

Another Spanish film, "Klaus" by director Sergio Pablos , will choose the Oscar for the best animated film.
Other Latin protagonists in the great cinema gala will be the Mexican Rodrigo Prieto (best photograph by "The Irishman"); the visual effects team of "The Irishman", where several Latinos appear under the supervision of Argentine Pablo Helman ; and the Brazilian Petra Costa (best documentary with "The Edge of Democracy").
The Oscar category for best film will be decided between "Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood", "The Irishman", "Ford v Ferrari", "Jojo Rabbit", "Joker", "Little Women", "Marriage Story "," 1917 "and" Parasite ".

The best actor award will count as nominees with Antonio Banderas ("Pain and Glory"), Joaquin Phoenix ("Joker"), Adam Driver ("Marriage Story"), Leonardo DiCaprio ("Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood" ) and Jonathan Pryce ("The Two Popes").
And the best actress award will have as aspirants Cynthia Erivo ("Harriet"), Scarlett Johansson ("Marriage Story"), Saoirse Ronan ("Little Women"), Charlize Theron ("Bombshell") and Renée Zellweger ("Judy ").
For the statuette for the best direction, in another year without nominated women, Martin Scorsese ("The Irishman"), Quentin Tarantino ("Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood"), Todd Phillips ("Joker, will fight on this occasion "), Sam Mendes (" 1917 ") and Bong Joon-ho (" Parasite ").
In the best international film section, previously known as the best foreign language film, the Spanish "Pain and Glory" will face "Parasite" (South Korea), "Corpus Christi" (Poland), "Honeyland" (Macedonia del North) and "Les Misérables" (France).
