Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte was received in Cairo by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. With al-Sisi, Conte reported, "we talked about the Regeni case; I remembered that in a few days it is the anniversary of the disappearance and I address an affectionate thought to his family. Today in Cairo there are carabinieri and police and they will stop again tomorrow : it is the positive sign that contacts between investigators have resumed, we trust that those between prosecutors will soon resume. The important thing is that the collaboration will resume, at Sisi I was reassured that the collaboration on their part will be maximum ".
In a statement from the Egyptian presidency, al-Sisi reiterated that "Egypt wishes to reach the truth and confirmed full support for the current cooperation between the authorities involved in Egypt and Italy to reveal the circumstances of the case ".
