Aspirin, Doliprane or Advil are no longer self-service since Wednesday

2020-01-15T12:50:16.325Z

This is to limit the risks associated with self-medication and possible incorrect dosages.

The date had been known for several weeks. Several drugs so far sold over the counter in pharmacies have been withdrawn from pharmacies since Wednesday morning.

Are concerned in particular: Doliprane, Advil and aspirin and all drugs composed of paracetamol, ibuprofen and aspirin. The objective is to limit the risks linked to self-medication by imposing an exchange between the buyer and the seller.

Overdose = danger

A toxic, even fatal, risk begins, for example, to appear when the maximum dose of 3 grams of paracetamol per day (for a person over 50 kg) contained in a drug such as Doliprane is exceeded. Overconsumption can also cause liver damage. Only medical advice can very moderately exceed the dose of 3 g / day.

In 2017, in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), a woman died without being taken care of by the Samu despite her call. The autopsy showed that she was the victim of an excess of paracetamol.

A message now appears on the boxes of these drugs: overdose = danger.
