The Sapphire Literature Jury Prize Jury, headed by Prof. Esther Dominicini, announced the "Long List", which includes the 12 books nominated for the 2019 Award, which will be awarded in 2000 and will be awarded a NIS 150,000 ceremony. The shortlisted books are: "Three" by Dror Mishani (House Mansion); "The burden of proof" by Ayelet Shamir (with an employee); "At The End Of All They Die" by Kobi Niv (Tepper); "We Will Go to Amusement Park Tomorrow" by Ilana Bernstein (Kinneret Zamora-Pavilion); "Until I Was Born" by Itamar Levy, (Kinneret Zamora-Pavilion Publishing House); "Volkstein" by Amichai Shalev (Kinneret Zamora-Pavilion); "The Twenties" by Yaara Shachori (Keter); "Garment of Fire" by Michal Ben Naftali (Keter); "Nathan" by Adi Sorek (Keter); "Ten Agorot" by Leonid Pkrowski (Workers' Library); "Foreign Teacher" by Dan Zemel (Carmel); And "Swans in Jerusalem Beach" by Lily Perry (Totem).

Each candidate from the long list will receive a financial grant of NIS 20,000, and five short-term candidates will be selected - where each candidate will receive a grant of NIS 40,000. The winner of the Sapir Award will, in addition to the financial grant, also translate his book into Arabic and another language of his choice. In addition, the Lottery purchases a 500-book edition of the five writers' books selected under the "short list" and gives them to public libraries across the country.

This year the award introduces a new format in the premiere book category, presenting a "short list" to candidates in that category as well. The list will include up to three candidates, each of whom will receive a grant of NIS 20,000. The winning book of the three will win the writer or writer a grant of NIS 40,000.
