MONZA - Many suggestions offered by the exhibitions scheduled next weekend, from McCurry's inquiring gaze to the female universe as a source of inspiration for painters, starting from the Renaissance and up to the Belle Époque, and then again Leonardo's genius, following the story made from archival papers, and the faces and shadows of the contemporary artist Liao Pei.
MONZA - At the Arengario from January 17th to April 13th 70 images tell the universal passion for reading, according to the sensitivity of one of the greatest contemporary photographers: it is the exhibition "Reading" by Steve McCurry that collects the shots taken in 40 years of career, works in which the author has represented people from all over the world, absorbed in the intimate act of reading.
BRESCIA - From the dawn of the Renaissance to the Baroque, up to the Belle Époque, women have always been a source of inspiration for artists: "Women in art. From Titian to Boldini" documents it, staged from 18 January to 7 June at Palazzo Martinengo . Along the way 90 masterpieces by artists such as Tiziano, Guercino, Pitocchetto, Appiani, Hayez, Corcos, Zandomeneghi and Boldini, dedicated to the representation of the fascinating complexity of the female universe.
MILAN - From January 17 to February 29, the Bottegantica Gallery hosts "Private Novecento. From de Chirico to Vedova": the exhibition celebrates the return of great artists of the last century to those historical spaces (at the time the rooms were occupied by the Galleria del Naviglio ) where, after the Second World War, they had been welcomed as young protagonists of the art of their time. The route consists of 30 works, in an evocative chronological and visual journey. A focus on life, works, places and man Leonardo, in a real emotional walk: it is the exhibition "Nero su bianco. Archival papers tell Leonardo" set up on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the death of the Italian genius at the State Archives from 16 January to 28 March. The exhibition is based on the documentary sources preserved in the Archive and also makes use of 2D and 3D technologies. Among the most important documents there is also the only autograph signature known to date by Leonardo, written from left to right in front of the notary Antonio de Capitani at the bottom of the contract for the realization of the painting "The Virgin of the Rocks", now exhibited at the Museo del Louvre.
ROME - The "Redeems of the city", scheduled until 17 February at Palazzo Merulana, opens on 18 January: between photography, graphics, videos and architectural projects created and visionary, the exhibition offers an overview of the urban and architectural scenario of Rome through a multidisciplinary approach in order to stimulate (also with a series of related activities) the discussion and comparison on the theme of urban regeneration. "Invisibility is not a superpower" is the exhibition scheduled from January 16th to February 6th at WeGil: 10 photographs, taken by Marzia Bianchi, and 10 radiographs (taken to the women who arrived in the Emergency Room) showing the world of pain and silence in which women victims of violence live. From 15 January to 6 March Visionarea Art Space hosts "Liao Pei. Liquid Shadow", an exhibition that presents a selection of oil paintings on canvas created in 2019 by one of the best known Chinese artists internationally. In the works of great impact, Liao Pei paints faces, bodies, spirits, ghosts, souls that capture the exhibition space. Alessandro Valeri's exhibition "An Iron Ring" opens at Maxxi on January 16: set up until January 26, the exhibition presents photographs, videos and installations and closes the path of artistic and personal research started by Valeri in 2011, after the visit of the Zippori orphanage, near Nazareth, an institution that welcomes children of all religions and cultures.
PRATO - At the Open Art Gallery the exhibition "Guido Pinzani. Form over time of form" from January 18 to March 7: about thirty works are exhibited in this anthology, including large-format wood sculptures and bronzes, many of which are unpublished, unique specimens never exhibited before.
