(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 17 - Bank of Italy confirms the GDP estimates issued in December within the Eurosystem, and sees an increase of 0.5% this year, 0.9% in 2021 and 1 , 1% in 2022. The economic bulletin cites "the greater weakness of the international scenario, partially offset by the more expansive intonation of monetary policy and by the improved conditions on Italian financial markets". To support the activity "internal demand and a gradual recovery of international trade. The unused margins of production capacity would only partially reabsorb".
Italy's GDP would have remained "almost stationary in the fourth quarter" after the slight growth of the previous quarter. But the estimate, Bankitalia specifies, "could be subject to downside risks, should the persistent weakness of manufacturing have had more significant repercussions on other sectors of the economy and in particular on services compared to what is suggested by the currently available indicators".
