The Senate Immunity Board will vote on January 20 for the authorization to proceed against Matteo Salvini . The junta decided for the regulation, approving the center-right agenda for a verdict on the 20th, despite the peremptory days expiring today.

The president of the Senate Casellati also participated in the vote, voting in favor. In the Junta, reinstated by two majority senators, the two parts are 6 to 6, excluding the president. Controversy over the majority for the President's decision which, however, "rejects any questioning of one's own third party".

Will the Democratic Party desert the Immunity Council on January 20? "I don't know, we will think about it. Certainly the Junta meets illegitimately", replied the leader of the Democratic Party Andrea Marcucci at the end of the Junta for the Senate regulation. "But the most serious thing - he added - is that we had proposed that he meet today to complete our work, but evidently this was not a pleasure. So they did a very serious coup. We are very worried about democracy" .

"I find it very serious that five minutes before it is established that the deadline is peremptory (within which to decide on the request for an authorization to proceed, ed) and after 5 minutes, not after a day, we proceed to establish that the deadline is not peremptory and therefore it is absolutely possible to derogate. And this happened after President Casellati has repeatedly stated that she would not participate in the vote for the Junta. Instead, she made a choice that we cannot fail to consider biased, this does not we would never have expected, "said the group leader of the Mixed Loredana De Petris leaving the meeting of the Board for the regulation.

"With reference to today's meeting of the Council for the regulation, the President of the Senate Elisabetta Casellati strongly rejects any reconstruction of the facts that in some way could call into question the third party of her action or connote it politically, because you cannot be third only when the reasons of the majority are satisfied and not any more when decisions are taken concerning the correct functioning of the Senate ".

In the note the president clarified his position at the meeting of the Board for the regulation. "The President did not vote on the opposition proposal - he continues - on the peremptory nature of the deadline for authorizations to proceed against ministers, just as he did not vote on the majority proposal to assimilate the organs of the Senate having different from those of the commissions themselves ". And he clarifies: "Only and exclusively to reconcile different provisions of the regulation that would otherwise conflict with each other (articles 29 and 135 bis), expressed itself in favor of a proposal made by a single member of the Board, in order to guarantee the mere functionality of the organs of the Senate ". Casellati furthermore notes that "against the opinion expressed by the Government and in particular by the Lega, Fratelli d'Italia and Forza Italia groups, it proceeded to integrate the same Government with two members belonging to the majority of government, in the persons of Senators De Petris and Unterberger" .
