(ANSA) - NUORO, JAN 17 - Life sentence for EttoreSini, the 49-year-old former prison officer from Ozieri (Sassari) on trial in Nuoro on charges of killing his ex, Romina Meloni, and seriously injured the new companion of the woman, Gabriele Fois, both 49 years old, on March 31 last year in the apartment of the capital where the couple lived. Ilgup Claudio Cozzella issued the sentence after 3 hours of council chamber.
The defendant was in the courtroom. The trial took place with a shortened ritual, therefore behind closed doors. Sini, the lawyers report, waited for the impassive sentence to be read. The judge did not grant him any extenuating circumstance confirming the claims of the two prosecutors: imprisonment for life.
Instead, the cinquesorelle and the victim's brother, Franca, Gabriella, Claudia, Sabrina, Elisa and Diego Meloni, dissolved in a liberating cry. "The sentence will never give us back Rome, but it was nice to hear those words that sentenced the murderer to the maximum penalty"
