Pollution and tumors, investigates Pistoia pm

(ANSA) - PISTOIA, JANUARY 17 - The prosecutor of Pistoia has opened an investigation into the pollution of wells by polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a carcinogenic agent recognized as such by the WHO at the beginning of the 1970s, and on the possible correlation with the onset Casalguidi village of 6.500 inhabitants, in the Pistoia area, of eight cases of soft tissue sarcoma.
The investigation starts from the presentation, at the Palazzo di Giustizia, of two recent and different exhibits. The investigators will try, through the investigations, to answer two questions: how the pollution of the wells located in the travia portion of the Redolone and Ponte Stella occurred, and whether there is a direct relationship between this pollution and the cases of sarcoma diagnosed.
