"The accident was not caused by a distraction but by a dramatic fatality, there is nothing that can rule out this possibility." (HANDLE)

(ANSA) - AOSTA, JANUARY 17 - "The accident was not caused by a distraction but by a dramatic fatality, there is nothing that can exclude this possibility". It is read in a notadiffusa today by the family of Philippe Michel, 65-year-old French pilot and flight instructor, accused of the tragedy of the Rutor glacier, where 7 people died on January 25, 2019 in the clash between the tourist plane - departed from Megève (France) - on which it was located and a heliski helicopter conbase in Courmayeur (Aosta). Michel is accused of aggravated airborne disaster and multiple aggravated manslaughter; for the prosecutor of Aosta he asked for a sentence of 7 years and 2 months of imprisonment.
Again for the family, "Michel was not intent on flying the plane at the time of the accident" (at the controls, according to the accusation, there was one of his students, Arnaud Gauffin, among the seven victims of the accident). Furthermore, again for the family members, "the pilot at the controls was perfectly qualified to fly this plane, even in the mountains".
