(ANSA) - NEW YORK, JAN 20 - The Italian economy accelerates in 2020. After + 0.2% in 2019, GDP is expected to grow by 0.5% this year. In the update of the World Economic Outlook, the IMF confirms the 2020 estimate for Italy but the one for 2021 at + 0.7%, or 0.1 percentage points less than the October estimates. In 2018 the Italian economy had grown by 0.8%. The Fund cuts the global growth estimates for 2020 and 2021 confirming the existence of downside risks, albeit more limited than the October estimates. After + 2.9% in 2019, world GDP is expected to grow by 3.3% this year and 3.4% next year, respectively 0.1 and 0.2 percentage points lower than the previous forecasts. The downward revision of the global market is linked to the slowdown in some emerging economies, especially India.
