You can see the first effects of TikTok on Instagram. The Facebook-owned app had launched an application (Igtv) to be able to upload longer videos but has now decided to remove the official icon of this app from Instagram, as reported by the TechCrunch website. This, does not mean that Igtv is eliminated, but continues to remain an app in itself without any more prominent mention on Instagram.
Most likely the decision was due to the few downloads of Igtv. Also according to the TechCrunch site, which is based on SensorTower data, the app has been downloaded only 1 million times since its launch in 2018. Just to make a comparison, in this same area and in the same period of time, TikTok has obtained almost 80 times more downloads.
