(ANSA) - FLORENCE, JANUARY 21 - "Access to the University for everyone, regardless of the economic and social conditions of origin, is a value that we cannot give up".
Giuseppe Conte said this during the opening ceremony of the academic year of the University of Florence.
"It pertains to the very quality of our democracy - added the premier - and is closely linked to the principle of equality, understood in a substantial sense".
Conte added that in order to have new young researchers immediately, "we are considering, when converting into law the extension deadline, the presentation of an amendment aimed at immediately introducing 1,600 new researchers into the system". "We will intervene - he explained - with an organic plan, lasting five years, to finally allow universities to be able to plan the selection of young scholars".
