Europe is growing the smart home market. In the third quarter, deliveries of "smart" TVs, speakers, lights and thermostats reached 23.8 million units, an increase of 18% on an annual basis. IDC analysts report this, according to which in 2023 deliveries will rise to 185.9 million units compared to 108 million in 2019.
To make the lion's share are the devices for audiovisual entertainment, namely smart TVs flanked by sticks like Amazon's Fire Stick that make televisions more intelligent. This category of products represents 58.2% of the overall market, with 13.8 million units.
In second place are the smart speakers, which total 4.5 million pieces delivered - more than half of which are Amazon - and an increase of 36.6%. Analysts crown Amazon as the queen of the connected house, thanks to "a stellar quarter". From July to September, Jeff Bezos' company marketed 3.9 million devices in Europe, representing an increase of 26.8% on an annual basis. In second place is Google with about 3.8 million units (+ 11.2%), followed by Samsung with 2.9 million devices (+ 9.7%). Off the podium Lg with 2.4 million (+ 14.5%) and Sony with 1.3 million (+ 11.1%).
