Since the strike began on public transport on December 5, Vélib 'rentals have jumped. They run between two and three times as many races, over longer distances. The result: the number of repairs also jumped. Since the start of the strike, Smovengo has had to repair more than 10,000 tires, triple the normal. The repairs to be made are more and more important. It is possible to replace a wheel and chain in 20 minutes, but, when a bicycle is in very poor condition, repair can take more than two hours. At this rate, if no other bike arrived at the workshop doors, it would take two months to repair all the bikes already piled up.
