The Brexit agreement reached by Boris Johnson with Brussels is now law in the United Kingdom. The Queen sanctioned it, by signing her (Royal Assent) under the text of the European Union Withdrawal Agreement Act, which yesterday concluded the process of parliamentary ratification in Westminster three years and 7 months after the referendum on the exit of the United Kingdom by the EU in 2016. The announcement of the Royal Assent was formalized in the House of Commons, to the applause of some Tory deputies, including deputy speaker Nigen Evans.
The United States intends to conclude a post-Brexit trade agreement with the United Kingdom "this year". American Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said so in Davos. This deal "is a top priority for President Trump and we plan to conclude it later this year. We believe it will be a good thing for them and us," he said on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.
