(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 23 - "It was not a particularly happy attitude": so the secretary general of the CEI, Msgr. Stefano Russo, on the case of the application to the intercom of the League leader Matteo Salvini. "But I would like to avoid - added Archbishop Russo - from going into particular cases and from giving judgments on people". The secretary of the Italian bishops added: "We cannot live in a constant climate of electoral campaign, for the common good it is necessary to decrease the level of conflict that has been going on for years".
On the next regional elections: "I hope that all citizens will be present significantly in this democratic participation to make their contribution in the reality of our territory and therefore also in Emilia Romagna".
Monsignor Russo hopes that there will be "the conditions for being able to participate in the common good in a civil way".
