(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 23 - Three days of studies, research and insights on Raphael, Raphael's famous work, before the canvas leaves Palazzo Barberini to reach the Scuderie del Quirinale, where the great exhibition dedicated to the 500 years since Raphael's death. But also a unique three-day opportunity to approach, like never before, one of the most iconic masterpieces of Western art and secrets. Curated by Alessandro Cosma and Chiara Merucci, he leaves Tuesday January 28th in the Barberini Corsini National Galleries "Raphael close up". The first day will be dedicated to a Gigapixel + 3D photogrammetric acquisition of the painting, in practice a very high resolution shot obtained through the union of multiple macrophotographs of details of a same object, which will allow enlargements far superior to what the human eye can perceive, with a resadi colors, tones, details, sharpness and lighting not otherwise achievable. The 3D model that will be obtained, experts explain, will allow you to map the shape of the object, the brush strokes and the cracks with an accuracy in the order of tens of microns, and can be used both to monitor the state of conservation of the work, and for the diffusion and enhancement of Raphael's image.
The second and third day will be dedicated to a macro-scan campaign of X-ray fluorescence (MA-XRF), which will provide high-resolution images of the chemical elements present on the painting by analyzing the individual points. Each morning at 11.00 a meeting is scheduled with the museum curators and restorers to learn more about the history and technique of this fundamental portrait. The visits are free of charge, purchase of the ticket and booking at the ticket office.
