About 1,500 residents were evacuated to the eastern Pyrenees and a few dozen to Aude after two rivers overflowed.

"The rains - the French weather forecast - which will fluctuate in intensity, will last until Thursday at noon, mainly affecting the eastern part of the two departments, including the coast. And the schools in the areas concerned will remain closed.
