They are over 65, but they feel like millennials: 54% of them feel comfortable in global society, 79% spend at least an hour a week on the internet, they watch less and less TV (frequently 54%) and they engage even less in religious activities (only 15% dedicate at least one hour of the week). They are informed (87%), have many hobbies and desire to test themselves on new things (78%). 38% would like to have home automation systems and 47% are interested in new trends. These are some of the data of the SWG research supporting the "Gray Scale Economy Lab", a project promoted by Havas PR which envisages the establishment of an observatory and a laboratory for study and listening on "Over 65s".
"An active generation that feels young and eager to explore the new digital era - says Riccardo Grassi, coordinator of the investigation on behalf of SWG -. A generation very far from established stereotypes, but who after facing the cultural revolution of 1968 during his youth is ready to get back into the game and respond to the challenge of the digital society ".
"Havas Pr - declares the CEO of Havas Pr Caterina Tonini - starting from the observation and study of the phenomenon of generational change in progress, it aims to support and contribute to the enhancement of the role of the new over 65s, through the identification of codes in able to reinterpret the third age, an 'active moment' of opportunity and re-taking charge, in full awareness, of life. The Gray Scale Economy Lab, during dedicated events, will make the data available to companies and organizations of the observatory, which will be analyzed together with Opinion leaders, experts and companies ".
