Friday is series (and movies too). On the eve of the weekend, the Parisian offers you a selection of fictions, films, documentaries not to be missed on online video platforms. On the program this week, the return of "Star Trek" and Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and a nice series on immigration to the United States.

The Evil Series: "The New Adventures of Sabrina", Season 3
The young witch Sabrina is not out of the woods. After joining the Night Church devoted to Satan, she learned in season 2 that she was the daughter of Lucifer himself. At the end of a fight between the allies of Sabrina his evil spawner, he ended up trapped in the body of Nick (the heroine's boyfriend) and taken to the Underworld.
We find the witch determined like never to deliver her lover. This third season is the shortest in the series - it has only 8 episodes - and it succeeds. Between the discovery of the Underworld, the difficulties of the community of sorcerers left on their own and the emergence of new enemies, the very rhythmic episodes allow the series to rebound after an end of season 2 which began to turn in circles.

The Marseille film: "Corniche Kennedy"
In Marseille, the "Corniche Kennedy" leaves the Marseille city by winding through the cornice. We overlook the sea. Kids from the northern districts throw themselves from these natural cliffs as if this emptiness filled their lives. Most of them, in this story taken from the eponymous novel by Maylis de Kerangal, have nothing to reproach themselves for. Two of them are slowly but surely trying to escape from the drug traffickers ...
Tell about a form of adolescent idleness punctuated by its challenges; touch the methods of little crooks and dive without the slightest splash into the codes of a love story: this is the miracle with reflections of this film which gives the magnetic Lola Creton a magnificent role and Aïssa Maïga that of a captain stupas.

The futuristic series: "Star Trek Picard"

One of the historical captains of the “Star Trek” saga, the French Jean-Luc Picard, who appeared in 1987 in the series “Star Trek The New Generation” and interpreted for thirty years by Patrick Stewart, is at the center of the new series. who carries his name. Picard, 92, has long been fired by Starfleet following an incident for which he is held responsible. Retired from space affairs, he lives in his Burgundian castle where he takes care of his vines.

When a young Android, tracked down by a Romulan commando, lands in her castle before disappearing tragically, the ex-admiral suspects a dark affair within the Federation, and secretly sets up a project to go back into space ... De numerous action scenes and spectacular sequences in space contrast with those, peaceful and very “earthly”, which show old Picard in his Burgundy vineyards. This is what makes the salt of this new series "Star Trek", just like the "grandpa" side of the hero, perfectly assumed by the actor Patrick Stewart.

The family comedy: "Troop zero"
Georgia, 1977. "Troop Zero" also allows you to find, alongside the excellent child-actress McKenna Grace, two great actresses from American series who deliver formidable performances: Viola Davis ("Murder") and Allison Janney ("At the White House" ).

With this harsh tale, between war film and existentialist drama, Guillaume Nicloux signs a very ambitious film, and manages admirably to account for the brutality of the war as well as the fascination of young uprooted soldiers for Vietnamese culture. A film with a captivating atmosphere, which smells of sweat and blood, carried by a great Gaspard Ulliel.

Space comedy: "Avenue 5"
Hugh Laurie ("Dr House") is the star of this space comedy by Armando Iannucci, the creator of "Veep". He plays the captain of a cruise ship called Avenue 5, whose trajectory between the planets is deviated following a technical incident. This is just the beginning of the hero's troubles.
The highlight of "Avenue 5" is resolutely its casting, from Hugh Laurie to Josh Gad (original voice of Olaf in "The Snow Queen"), from Lenora Crichlow ("Being Human") to Zach Woods, whom l 'We loved it in "Silicon Valley" (also available on OCS). The problem is that the talent of all these actors does not compensate for the weaknesses of the script and if we smile, we never laugh openly.

The hip-hop film: "Let's dance"
Lovers of hip-hop, tattooed biceps and teenage romance against the backdrop of a sparkling Eiffel Tower, this film is for you! "Let's dance"; tells how three young people land in Paris in order to integrate a prestigious hip-hop company ... And fail in a classical dance school. Add to that love triangles, family quarrels and the irresistible smiles of Rayane Bensetti and Brahim Zaibat, and you get a comedy as predictable as it is pleasant.

The multicultural series: "Little America"
Nice surprise at the start of the year, the fiction "Little America" depicts the destinies of immigrants settled in the United States. Each episode is dedicated to a different protagonist and all are adapted from real testimonies published in the American magazine "Epic Magazine". We loved the eight strands. We get attached to Marisol, a young Latina who discovered squash; Iwegbuna, Nigerian student passionate about westerns; Ai, a Chinese mother who dreams of winning a trip to go on vacation with her children; Rafiq, a Syrian homosexual forced to flee his country…
The most unexpected episode has almost no dialogue: it takes place during a silent retreat, in which a woman takes part in a quest for meaning, played by Mélanie Laurent. Bright, the French actress takes us into her laughter and her encounters. Each part of "Little America" is an extremely touching cultural and emotional journey.
