It is not for everyone to receive the artistic baptism on the stage set up in the San Siro stadium and nothing less than Bruce Springsteen 'the Boss'. The young Bolognese singer-songwriter Leo Meconi had this privilege on 5 July 2016 when Springsteen himself invited him to go on stage for a guitar duet on 'Dancing in the Dark'. From that magical evening, inspiration was born for the first song written by Leo, 'Guitar Man'.
Luck did not stop that night in San Siro and Meconi met another exceptional godfather, Dodi Battaglia, on the road who decided to follow him on his artistic journey, starting with the publication of the cover album 'It's Just Me 'and continued with' I'll Fly Away ', the first unreleased album produced by Dodi himself. Here is the VIDEO PREVIEW of the little homonymous single 'I'll Fly Away' . It is a hymn to never give up and to fight to see your dreams come true. "It is the story of a boy born in a small provincial town, where nothing ever happens and dreams of escaping from that place," explains Leo Meconi. "Friends tell him to stay because their life is there. The family does not seem to understand the needs of the son who should study and find a permanent job but the protagonist is certain that one day he will fly away and with his music he will make his dreams come true. "he concludes.
The song was written in 2017 only for guitar, harmonica and vocals. During 2018 it was recorded at the San Luca Sound studios by Renato Droghetti, with whom Leo sought an 'acoustic pop' arrangement that fully mirrored the musical genres with which he grew up, especially American folk.
