Modigliani 2020, the genius and the legacy after 100 years of death

An exhibition-event in Rome, with over 100 masterpieces on display exploiting the expressive possibilities of technology, for an immersive experience. And then debates and conferences, editorial productions, a hologram and the creation of a technological house to remember a great artist actively making culture. These are the events that will animate the celebrations dedicated in the course of 2020 to Amedeo Modigliani, on the centenary of his death, organized by the IAM, Istituto Amedeo Modigliani. A way to remember the activity of the Livornese genius, the unique trait - in the forms and in the light - of his paintings and sculptures, but also to allow him to deepen his knowledge of his figure, strengthening the interest of the public, also through the heterogeneity of the initiatives. The main event, scheduled for June next year, will be "L'Impossibile Modigliani. The Italian artist and African art. Symbol, works, technology", a great exhibition, set up at the Quirinetta, which will combine technology with the works unique to the great Modì and in which the Modigliani hologram will be presented for the first time in the world. In addition, a special edition of photolithographies will be inaugurated in the exhibition, proposed to the public with innovative technological systems in order to allow to know the work and its historical contextualization and will be presented a deepening of the link between Modigliani and Africa, with the exhibition of some wooden works created by African artists. Throughout 2020, then the art of the master from Livorno, who died very young in 1920, at 35 years of age, will go to China: the IAM will in fact organize two exhibitions following the Modlight format, conceived and registered by the Institute. Finally, the construction of the Modigliani technological house in Sardinia is planned within the original real estate property of Flaminio Modigliani, father of the artist, a place destined to host cultural activities. But an anticipation of the celebrations already took place on December 12, with the presentation at the Casa del Cinema of the book "Il Principe Modigliani" by Angelo Longoni, then it will continue with a series of conferences with international speakers, such as Ahmed Elgammal, professor of the prestigious US university Rutgers, which will illustrate how the use of a special algorithm can allow you to objectively establish the authenticity of a work of art. "With this program - says the president of the IAM, Luciano Renzi - the Amedeo Modigliani Institute continues its important cultural dissemination operation of the Livorno genius, working intensely for many years in the relationship between art and technology in a vision of culture as a strategic asset of our country, reinforcing a contemporary conception of the importance of art as a flywheel of short circuits between culture, business and development of the Italian style.
