(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 24 - The Council of State has ordered the provisional suspension of the ongoing experimentation on seimacachi as part of a project by the University of Turin and Parma on human visual deficits. "It is the body that experiments that must prove that there are no alternatives to an invasive experimentation on animals and a harbinger of suffering that the European and national legislation on animal welfare, even in the areas of desperation, prescribes to avoid or reduce physiological parameters within strict limits", is written in the order.
The universities make it known that "they reserve the right to investigate the specific aspects of the matter in the appropriate locations" and in the meantime they will comply with the decision of the Council of State.
For Lav it is an "important" victory. For months Glianimalists have asked the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza to declare the authorization for the experiment underway in Turin and Parma.
