These are the first three cases of coronavirus detected in France and in Europe. These three people, all recently returned from China, are currently being taken care of in Bordeaux, and in Paris for two of them.
The patient hospitalized in Bordeaux is a 48-year-old Frenchman of Chinese origin who traveled to the Middle Kingdom in January for professional reasons. The forty-something stopped in Wuhan, the home of the epidemic, now in quarantine.
Returning Wednesday, January 22, he went the following day to a SOS Doctors consultation center for symptoms of fever and cough, before being taken by ambulance to the infectious disease service at Pellegrin hospital. The tests carried out confirmed that he was positive for the virus.
"He is fine," said Minister of Health Agnès Buzyn on Friday. This patient, who lives in the Gironde capital, has been placed in an isolated room since Thursday. The authorities will contact the dozen people he has met since his return to give them the instructions to follow. They will have to take "their temperature several times a day, contact the 15th in case of symptoms and stay at home".

Two other patients were diagnosed with the virus in Paris. They are taken care of at Bichat hospital (18th century), a state-of-the-art virology establishment, and placed in isolation. For the moment, very little information has filtered on these two people, except that they had also recently returned from China and had stayed in Wuhan. The health ministry said they were "close relatives."
