Tonight, the American Music Industry's 62nd Grammy Awards will be held in Los Angeles with a host of nominations for young and very unknown artists and a big backstage scandal.
Lizzo, the big-time pop singer and songwriter, broke through with eight nominations, including four major categories: Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year and New Artist. Billy Elish, who also broke big this year, is nominated in six categories.
In the song category of the year, Lizzo faces Lady Gaga's "Always Remember Us This Way" (from the soundtrack of the movie "Star Born"), Billy Elish's "Bad Guy", "Someone You Loved" by British singer Louis Capaldi, "Bring me Flowers Now "Of folk singer Brandy Carlisle," Norman Fucking Rockwell "by Lena Del Rey and" Lover "by Taylor Swift.
Swift remained out of the album category this year, with band nominees and Pierre Wickand, HER singer, Bon Iver, Billy Elish, Lizo, Lena Del Rey, Lil Nas X and Ariana Grande on their "Thank You, Next" album. Granada is also among the artists to perform tonight, including Aerosmith, Camila Cabio, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stephanie and Demi Lovato. The ceremony will be directed by Alisha Keys.
In the absence of real superstars this year, the real drama around the Grammys is backstage. Ten days ago, Academy of Music President Debra Duggan was unexpectedly ousted five months after being appointed to the long-awaited job and becoming the first woman to carry that title. Immediately after her dismissal, the Academy of Music said Dugan "created a toxic and unbearable atmosphere of bullying and forcefulness." It also emerged that a complaint was filed against one of the employees.

Duggan was quick to fight back through lawyers, claiming that she herself had been sexually harassed by one of the academy's top officials. She also claimed that she was fired because she wanted to flood irregularities in the voting process for the Grammy ceremony, and was required to turn a blind eye to pleasures and conflicting interests.
Duggan argued, among other things, that board members select candidates on the basis of personal relationships and that the ceremony producer is pushing for certain singers to be nominated to appear in the broadcast. She also claimed that some artists considering their nominations took an active part in select committee meetings.
She also claimed that 17-year-old Neil Portnau was pressuring her to approve a $ 750,000 annual salary on "consulting services." Another allegation against him was that he was charged with rape by a musician, but the affair was muted. It was later learned that the employee who pleaded guilty to Duggan was actually Portnau's personal assistant.
The Academy of Music, for her part, skips denials and extinguishes fires.
