In the aftermath of a violent earthquake in the city of Elazig, in central Turkey, rescuers managed to rescue a young girl from the rubble of a building.
On Friday, January 24, an earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale shook the Sivrice district of eastern Turkey, killing at least 36 people.
Rescuers, on the job in the freezing cold, have also removed 45 people alive from the rubble since Friday evening, according to Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu.
