(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, JAN 28 - Donald Trump has announced that if there is an agreement between the parties on the peace plan for the Middle East, the US will open an embassy in East Jerusalem, confirming that the latter could be the capital of the future Palestinian state.
Trump then said that "Jerusalem remains the undivided capital of Israel" and said he sent a letter to the Palestinian president, Abu Mazen, calling for a 4-year timeframe to negotiate on the plan, which, added the US president, press conference with the Israeli premier. Benyamin Netanyahu plans to invest $ 50 billion in favor of Palestinians. "There are many states ready to invest," he assured.
"Today is a big step towards peace," Trump said, adding that "the time has come for a historic turn." Indeed, according to the American president, "this could be the last chance to achieve peace in the Middle East".
