And Cook announces a tightening in China for the spread of the virus (ANSA)

NEW YORK - Tim Cook can really smile: thanks above all to the success of the new iPhone models, Apple closes one of the best quarters in its history, three record months that make Cupertino look to the future with great optimism. The challenge of the new smartphone models is fully successful and every forecast of the eve - both of Wall Street analysts and of Apple itself - has been beaten, starting with the revenue boom of 91.8 billion dollars.

A 9% jump that generated record-breaking net profits of $ 22.4 billion, the first increase in over a year. So in the after hours trading on the New York Stock Exchange the title of the bitten apple flies over 3%. "It was a very successful quarter on all fronts," exults Cook.

And in fact there is not only the satisfaction for the sales of the iPhone grown by 8%, for collections equal to 55.96 billion dollars, more than half of the total revenues. The last three months have seen a great expansion of all the other Apple's flagship products: from PCs to iPads, but above all from accessories such as Apple Watch and Air Pods, to services such as iCloud and Apple TV, which score year-over-year revenue growth of $ 12.7 million.

The only cloud on the horizon is linked to China, where Apple produces most of its iPhones. Cook announced that because of the alarm for the spread of coronavirus, one of the stores in the country has been closed, while for the others, measures such as that of reducing hours have been decided. Also under consideration is a travel restriction plan for its staff who commute from California to the Chinese production plants.
