When Céline offered her 9 year old daughter to attend the first conference "1 hour, 1 family myth" at MK2 Nation (12th), Nathanaelle winced, dragged her feet. After an hour of listening to Prometheus' life, she asked her mother, "Can we come to all the conferences? It's too good! "
The speaker Céline Lecan, from Des Mots et des arts (she visits the Saint-Jacques tower in summer), knows how to capture her audience. This PhD student, as a little girl, would have liked to bathe in mythological tales adapted to kids. So she distills her knowledge up to the child. Without realizing it, the young public discovers the history of art through Greek myths. On the big screen parade sculptures, paintings by Raphäel. Nicolas Coypel's shows the sacrifice to Jupiter.
We listen to a song by Beethoven, an extract from the song Prometheus, by rapper Akhenaton. Children immediately understand that the text refers to the golden age. "They had plenty of food, but did they live in peace? Asked Irene. "Yes, and death was a long sleep, the plants grew on their own ...", smiles Céline. Epimetheus created animals, Athena offers wisdom, Prometheus, which means "he who thinks before acting", steals fire on Mount Olympus. The speaker has retained the children's first names, the audience drinks her words, little hands are raised, eager to be questioned.
The conference projects three easy questions on the big screen to summarize the sequence. Hercules appears as a film character, a Disney hero and an engraving. How to recognize it? "He's wearing flip-flops," tries a child. The answer amuses the parents.
At the end of the session, Céline gives everyone a picture of Prometheus which can serve as a bookmark. Nathanaelle found that the hour "has passed too quickly. The myth was well told and I like to participate. It makes me want to read books on mythology. In the front row, the little girl and her mother took advantage of the conference lying on a chaise longue, nibbling on popcorn. MK2 Nation reopened in November after two years of construction. The cycle on the Greek heroes counts 10 conferences, every Saturday. On Sunday, Céline Loncan is at MK2 Quai de Loire, to speak joyfully about the gods Athena, Apollo, Hermes and their friends.
