ROME - After -2% in 2019, global smartphone sales will grow by 3% this year, reaching 1.57 billion units. Gartner analysts predict this, according to which 5G phones will be the driving force thanks also to the availability of less expensive products. Geographically, the most prosperous market will be the Chinese one, with an increase of 5.1% to 432 million units.
An increase of 5.7% will be recorded in mature markets in Asia Pacific (31.8 million pieces), while a + 5.9% will concern the Middle East and North Africa (78.2 million).
In Western Europe, smartphone sales will grow from 144.1 million in 2019 to 147.4 million in 2020 and 150.2 million in 2021, the researchers continue. The market in Eastern Europe is less lively, with 48.4 million in 2019, 48.5 in 2020 and 49.1 in 2021. In North America, in the three years under review it will go from 152.8 to 155.3 and 158, 6 million devices sold. Globally, sales of 5G smartphones this year will reach 221 million units, equal to 12% of the total, and in 2021 they will double to 489 million. (ANSA).
