(ANSA) - LONDON, JAN 31 - "We want to have the closest possible relations with the EU" and "trade as far as possible without barriers", but "we voted to be independent" and not to remain "subordinate to their judges, their laws, their political structures. " So Minister Michael Gove, number three of the British Tory government of Boris Johnson, tracing today the lines of the United Kingdom's future against the backdrop of Brexit Day at the BBC: the day that will mark the official divorce of London from Brussels. Gove spoke about the negotiations on future relations with the EU with tonal optimism, admitting however that it will be a matter of trying to "minimize" the barriers "in the interest of the country", not to try to cancel them by watering down Brexit. In the meantime, the Johnsonsi government is gathering in Sunderland, the symbolic city of northern England, which was the first to complete the scrutiny of the pro-Leave ballot at the 2016 referendum.
