A sweet accompaniment to hearty food? Baked with cheese? That must be from America. The Corn Pudding is an original from the South - suitable for the Super Bowl.
It is particularly popular in the southern states and has little in common with a pudding known in this country: Corn pudding.
What is the main ingredient of the corn pudding?
Simply answer : corn - as the name suggests. Because "corn" means corn. One ingredient that I couldn't find was Creamed Style Corn. This is a pulpy corn preparation. This consists of water, corn, starch, sugar and salt. Unfortunately, I didn't find the Creamed Style Corn in any shop, so I simply had to help myself elsewhere: I let part of the corn through a mixer and simply added most of the other ingredients. To get close to the Creamed Style Corn.
There are many types of preparation for corn pudding
In my research on corn pudding, I came across many variants of the preparation. It almost seemed to me that every household in America has its own family recipe. Some put the cheese in the corn mixture, some sprinkle it over it. I even came up with recipes where sausages are placed on the corn pudding.
The corn pudding as a classic side dish
Especially on Thanksgiving, corn pudding in America should not be missing as an accompaniment to turkey in many households. But also on all other days of the year it is suitable as an accompaniment to roasts from the pipe or grilled meat. And if you don't like a sweet side dish that is baked with cheese, as in this case, just drop the sugar and salt and pepper at your own discretion.
