2020-02-03T15:46:14.339Z

Employees meeting in general assembly voted Monday to suspend the strike movement, which began 63 days ago, until early March.

Following a general meeting held on Monday at the Maison de la Radio, the CGT decided to suspend the strike movement that began in November until early March. According to the GA webcast, 25 people voted for this break, 16 against and 29 abstained. The movement had already had a break at the end of December.

At the beginning of November, the management of Radio France had announced its savings plan which should make it possible to save 60 million euros by 2022. The CEO, Sibyle Veil, had then announced 299 job cuts out of a total workforce of 4,600 full-time equivalents, and 76 creations. The symphonic choir should be the most affected sector with 33 redundancies.

Longest strike in audiovisual history

The strike movement initiated in November by the CGT is already the longest strike movement in the history of the audiovisual industry. If the other unions in the public group have called for occasional work stoppages since the start of the movement, the CGT is the only organization which had launched an unlimited notice period, extended so far day by day.

In 2015, the employees of Radio France had already launched a strike for 28 days against the strategic plan which provided for layoffs.

The next general assembly should take place on Tuesday 11 February.
