Sitting in the same toilet as musician legend Frank Sinatra - it may sound like a strange dream, but some fans have now fulfilled it.

  • At the end of January, some objects from Frank Sinatra's property came under the hammer.
  • A gold-plated toilet particularly appealed to the bidders.
  • It changed hands for several thousand euros.

It is over 20 years since the death of the American singer Frank Sinatra, called "The Voice". But his fans are still numerous and like to reminisce. Now some of them can do the same with their old belongings - above all a gold-plated toilet.

The antique shop "S&S Auction" auctioned 197 pieces from Sinatra's property, which were in his almost 560 square meter suite in the Gold Nugget Casino in New Jersey. These include furniture, decorative items and the toilet. As the news portal CNN writes, this was in high demand with the bidders, in the end it changed hands for just under 3,900 euros .

The special thing about it is not only that it once belonged to Frank Sinatra - which would be enough for some fans - but also its special look: the toilet made of Italian marble has a gold-plated lid in the shape of a shell . The associated marble bidet was sold for around 1,600 euros. A real bargain, as a spokesman for the auction house says: If they were new, the toilets would cost around 24,500 euros.

In addition to the toilets, Sinatra fans were able to acquire other items from his possession: his piano was sold for just under 6,400 euros and his watch from Ferdinand Berthoud for around 11,800 euros. The most expensive auction piece was a fountain by Enid Yandell, who changed hands for just under 30,000 euros. A bargain, however, was a pair of ottomans that were sold for around 91 euros. "There are many people who are fascinated by Frank Sinatra," said David Berenblit from "S&S Auction". "Here was an opportunity to own something he used. I would think that is pretty cool for a Sinatra fan."
