LG or Samsung smartphone?

LG and Samsung are two Korean giants that compete fiercely in several niches, including TVs and smartphones. For the latter, should you choose an LG or Samsung smartphone? LG has been able to be innovative with smartphones often at the forefront, and sometimes offers the best quality / price ratio of the moment. We remember the G2 and its screen with reduced edges long before the competitors were put on the page, or the G5 and its strange modules that allowed to improve the sound, the camera or the battery. Since then, the manufacturer has entered the ranks a bit with more classic G6 and G7. Nevertheless, LG has long been a quality outsider, and the manufacturer's latest high-end products remain good models, even if we regret that the French division of LG has stopped distributing its latest smartphones like the G8s ThinQ. The good point is that today we can find a good cheap LG smartphone.

Opposite, Samsung remains much more active and offers a wide range of smartphones from the most affordable to the most high-end with the Galaxy S10, S10 +, Note 10 and Note 10+ which are still among the references, pending the Galaxy S20 range. Samsung is a safe choice: to buy a Samsung smartphone is to opt for the world leader in the sector and therefore find, in addition to a quality smartphone, a varied and extensive ecosystem of accessories. In addition, Samsung smartphones benefit from very good support for manufacturer updates, and if the Galaxy S or Note range seems too expensive, the Galaxy A series also offers good models for more affordable prices.

Why choose an Android smartphone?

Choosing an Android smartphone is already choosing between a very large number of smartphones. All manufacturers, apart from Apple, offer Android smartphones, each with a wide range of models from the lowest prices to the top of the range, with characteristics sometimes very different in size, components, screen, photo ... Between smartphones without on board a motorized webcam, cameras with 3, 4 or even 5 different lenses, models with screen sizes sometimes around 7 inches, it is possible to find an Android smartphone that suits you, where an iPhone would force you to choose among 5 or 6 different models. In addition, Android smartphones are available at all prices, even the lowest. Finding the best quality / price ratio on Android is sometimes spoiled for choice!

From a software point of view, Android is more permissive. You can more easily change the layout or even the look of your home screen, you have direct access to the file system from Windows Explorer, and you can choose your email client, SMS, your web browser or your default voice assistant. For the more experienced, it is also possible to bypass the Google Play Store to install applications. We do not recommend it if you are not a subject matter expert for security reasons.
