Samsung does three, or rather four . In an event organized in San Francisco, with safety measures for participants due to the coronavirus, the South Korean company has launched three versions of the Galaxy S20 , the direct competitor of the iPhone, and a new folding phone.
"We have just entered a new decade and 5G will completely change the way we communicate and live the world around us," says TM Roh, Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics to present the new phones all equipped with 5G connectivity and of "an incredible camera with artificial intelligence ".
The foldable phone is called Z Flip and is the evolution of the Galaxy Fold launched last year and not immediately lucky because of some design problems. The display is made of flexible glass : open it measures 6.7 inches , closed it fits in the palm of a hand. The Galaxy Z Flip will be available from February 14 in two color variations, at a price of 1520 euros.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 , however, arrives in the basic variant , Plus and Ultra . It mounts a Quad HD + Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, flat and almost unframed and extended over the entire front surface, and with a different concentration of pixels depending on the models. The Galaxy S20 has a 6.2-inch display (the 8 GB + 128 GB 4G version with 1TB expandable memory costs 929 euros; the 12 GB 5 GB + 128 GB 1029 euros version). The Plus version has a 6.7-inch display (the 8G + 128GB 4G version and 1TB expandable memory costs 1029 euros, the 12GB + 128 GB 5G version and 1TB expandable memory costs 1129 euros, the 12GB + 512 5G one GB and 1TB expandable memory costs 1279 euros). Finally, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is only 5G, has a 6.9-inch display, 12 GB + 128 GB and 1TB expandable memory and costs 1379 euros.
The center of everything is the photographic sector capable of an extremely high resolution (108 MP for Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, 64 MP for Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 +), to clearly highlight the details. Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G takes a further step forward at the sensor level by combining nine pixels in one. In addition, thanks to the 'Space Zoom' technology the new Samsung are able to capture the most distant subjects with a higher resolution. And, thanks to artificial intelligence, with Galaxy S20 you can shoot a short video to automatically get a series of photos and videos in different formats to choose from. It also allows 8K video footage that can be uploaded directly to YouTube. As for music, there is also the integration between the assistant Bixby and Spotify for "a personalized soundtrack".
Galaxy S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra 5G can be booked from 11 February . By booking Galaxy S20 + or S20 Ultra 5G between 11 February and 8 March and purchasing it between 13 and 31 March, users will receive the new Galaxy Buds + earphones. The devices will be available in physical and online stores starting March 13.
