Bolognese test: First evaluation clear, but then comes the surprise

For the selected Bolognese sauces *, more money actually means: more sugar. Starting with three to four grams of sugar per 100 grams of sauce , Alnatura and Don Antonio set the bar significantly higher with eight grams and over ten grams of sugar, respectively. In the latter, the sugar comes from the tomatoes and other natural ingredients and is not added artificially to change the taste.

With the Combino and Gut & Günstig products, the nutrition expert criticizes the use of modified corn starch: "An ingredient that can actually be avoided." One speaks of modified starch when various chemicals are added to the actually natural starch, which can change the product as desired. Alnatura only uses organic products and has a high tomato content , the most expensive product convinces with high-quality ingredients . Don Antonio actually uses tomato pulp, i.e. pulp, while other manufacturers use double-concentrated tomato paste.

In terms of ingredients and consistency, the Bolognese sauces * from Alnatura and Don Antonio are ahead of the nutritionist. When the taste test is then carried out by the football team, however, a completely different picture emerges. After the blind tasting, the players agree and award most of the points to the Bolognese of the Edeka own brand "Gut & Günstig". The ratings are clear: "Super tasty", "The sauce was very good." Second place goes to Alnatura, the remaining sauces go completely empty, including the "Sugo di pomodoro alla bolognese" with the best ingredients.
