Are we witnessing a new age in the use of social networks for political ends? Mike Bloomberg's campaign team, which is running for the Democratic nomination for the US presidential election, surprised by communicating on an unusual channel: Instagram. Or more precisely, by paying for humorous Instagram accounts with millions of subscribers. The latter owe their success to their art of handling memes, these images diverted to make people laugh and which spread virally on the internet.

A first burst of memes was published Thursday on dozens of well-followed accounts. We see a false exchange between Mike Bloomberg and the owner of said account. The candidate asks him to "post a meme that will prove to young people that I am cool" , then suggests an idea that is anything but "cool".
