A young man from Parque Patricios who was traveling as a backpacker suffered a serious accident on a tourist walk in Puerto Iguazú. While visiting the Butterfly Falls, near the Tres Fronteras Landmark, he fell from the top of the waterfall while walking along a path that has no security measures.

The victim remains hospitalized in intensive therapy with a fractured hip and spine, in addition to a severe blow to the head. Reportedly, he is at risk of life due to the seriousness of the injuries he suffered.

The accident occurred on Sunday around 2 pm and the victim was identified by rescuers as Yago Pablo Bilarmino, 30. He is from Parque Patricios and had arrived in the city of the Falls as a backpacker.

Other tourists who visited the place saw how the young man lost his stability and fell from several meters high on the stones at the foot of the jump.

The Volunteer Firefighters of Puerto Iguazú went to rescue him. He was given first aid and immobilized by warning that he had several fractures.

Given the impossibility of taking it out by land - the place is very steep - firefighters requested the collaboration of a Naval Prefecture vessel.

Bilarmino was loaded in a speedboat of the force and taken to the port, where an ambulance was waiting for his transfer to Samic Hospital "Dr. Marta Schwarz". The doctors confirmed that the wounds he suffered were very serious and decided to be admitted to the intensive care sector.

Just nine days before, a 35-year-old Chaco tourist had suffered a fall in the same place when she was going down the path to cool off at the foot of the jump. The woman was assisted at the Hospital, where they found that she only had some blows.

The most serious case occurred on November 21 of last year when Facundo De Lara, 23, from Córdoba, fell on the stones after slipping and suffered injuries that days later caused his death.

The Butterfly Jump is visited by hundreds of people in high season although it does not have the slightest safety measures , such as railings or signs that warn of the risks involved in traveling the path. The road reaches the base of the small, but very beautiful waterfall that is in a property that belongs to the Municipality of Puerto Iguazú.

Missions. I corresponded.
