What will the treatment of the Corona Ship passengers look like when they arrive in Israel during Thursday? This is one of the questions facing the Ministry of Health and the Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer, with the aim of preventing a fatal disease outbreak in Israel. The hospital has already begun preparing for passengers, who will be referred to them immediately upon landing in ambulances, and will be subject to particularly stringent isolation conditions.

Among other things, the hospital will displace the passengers' waste and laundry, and their intended food will be left at the doors of their rooms. The hospital will also provide them with medical equipment that the ship's passengers will examine themselves to reduce any contact with the medical staff. Patients will receive blood pressure, sturgeon gauge and specialty swabs (sticks for performing tests) in their room, through which they will perform surface exams daily. The surfaces will be prepared in an airtight storage container and the passengers will place it at the door of the room, from where they will be collected by the medical staff for testing.

Travelers will also help with the Remote Care app, which we first published on Israel Today, where they will enter their test results and have video calls with doctors several times a day. The doctor will also be able to take a physical look at patients at a distance call.

Sheba and the Ministry of Health are also exploring a number of alternatives for hospitalization of these patients, including inpatient structures that have been specifically brought to the hospital for this purpose.

One of the scenarios in the health care system is that one or more of the passengers, who board the plane when they do not exhibit the Corona virus symptoms, will be in flight - as was the case with 14 American passengers leaving the Diamond Princess on Monday. In this case, the patient's "double isolation" is taken from the healthy passengers - in separate places at Sheba Hospital.

The hospital stated that those passengers would be treated by a dedicated and separate staff assigned for this task only. And the complex is physically separated and has a separate infrastructure than the rest of the medical center.

Prof. Elhanan Bar-On, Director of the Sheba Emergency Medical Center: "Our expertise is in leading and handling national emergency missions, and so is the case - professionally and responsibly."
