Roofs were torn off Sunday evening by a strong gale described by residents as a "mini-tornado".

The storm Dennis blew strong Sunday in the north of France. And even very strong in Liévin, in Pas-de-Calais. Shortly after 6 p.m., a strong gale, described by locals as a small tornado, seriously damaged several houses in the Beaver City neighborhood, according to La Voix du Nord. Fortunately, no one was injured.

A hundred homes were left without power after electrical cables were laid to the ground by the storm. Above all, two houses had their roof completely torn off. They were carried away for several tens of meters. One of them came into the facade of another house.

“It was the neighbors who warned us. They heard a big noise, they saw a sort of tornado pass and the result, there, is that we have no more house, "told the regional daily the owner of one of the houses with the roof torn. “We looked out the window and saw a tornado, it was spinning while flying everything in its path. Then we heard a big noise, my daughter screamed. It was the neighbor's roof that came to smack on my house, ”said another resident.

The city of Liévin is not the only one to have been the scene of such a weather phenomenon. About sixty kilometers away, in Saulzoir, a dozen homes also suffered damage after a strong gale. There were also no injuries.
