Syria: 'talks on Idlib failed'

(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, FEBRUARY 18 - "The meetings with the Russian side on Idlib have not given any satisfactory results. We have reposted the documents that have been proposed to us". The spokesman for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, IbrahimKalin, said after two days of talks in Moscow by a delegation from Ankara. "Our principle on Idlib is to return to the Sochi agreement", signed in September 2018 by Erdogan and Vladimir Putin for a ceasefire. "A change in the location of our military observation posts in Idlib is excluded. If our soldiers are targeted, we will respond in the strongest way, as we have done in recent weeks," added Kalin. The reference is to Turkish bombings against Syrian government forces, the cuiartillery has killed at least 13 military troops since the beginning of February during the ongoing offensive against rebel forces supported by Ankara in the north-west of the country.
