Under the Californian sun, Buck leads a sweet and peaceful life. Spoiled beyond measure by Judge Miller and his family, the animal was removed to be sold as a sled dog in the Far North during the gold rush in the early 19th century. Immersed in a rough daily life, Buck discovers the violence of men.

Based on a simplified scenario at the extreme of Jack London's adventure novel, The Call of the Wild , Chris Sanders films endlessly a four-legged hero with a big heart. The director is used to animated films ( Dragons , 2010, Les Croods 1 , 2013), he takes outrageous shortcuts to get straight to the point. Buck went from being an indecent pasha to that of a prisoner under the guidance of various masters, two of whom were very cruel. But let's reassure sensitive souls, for short periods.
