Finistère: an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 felt in Brest

The epicenter was located 5 kilometers east of the Breton port. It is not known if damage has occurred.


A slight earthquake was felt in Brest (Finistère), this Wednesday evening, as many Internet users have reported on social networks. On its site, the national seismic monitoring network reports an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 on the Richter scale.

According to the observatory, the epicenter was ten kilometers deep and about five kilometers east of the port city of more than 140,000 inhabitants.

No damage seems to be reported for the time being. Between 3 and 4, the tremor is generally felt without causing damage. The event nevertheless reacted to many Internet users who expressed a clear feeling in the city.

According to Le Télégramme, an earthquake had already occurred in August in the harbor of Brest with a magnitude of 2.9, again without causing damage.
