The French army has not finished its war against Daesh. Visiting the Charles-de-Gaulle aircraft carrier, which crosses somewhere in the Mediterranean, Florence Parly spoke about the "resurgence" of the terrorist group in Iraqi and Syrian territories.
In Syria, it is according to the Minister of Defense, the inability of Bashar al-Assad's troops to "fight effectively against Daesh" in "the territories recaptured by the regime" which is causing the revival of the strength of the jihadist fighters .
In Iraq too, the activity of terrorists is gaining momentum and it is "the political instability which has prevailed for several months in the country which constitutes an ideal breeding ground allowing Daesh [...] to reconstitute its forces".
This explains, according to the minister, the intense resumption of French Rafale activity in the Syrian sky: “Combat aircraft contribute a very significant part to coalition operations. Our contribution has doubled, today we carry out 15% of missions and up to 20% for reconnaissance missions. "
