Tourists who decided to cross by car from Mendoza to Chile for the long Carnival weekend met on Saturday with a queue of up to 7 hours at the border.

The congestion extended at noon for about 10 kilometers of Route 7 on the hand to Chile, between Las Cuevas and the Cristo Redentor pass .

As it transpired, the main reason for the delay had to do with the paperwork at Customs , although a motorbike encounter and a cycling race were added to the flow of motorists, causing a total collapse.

The "highest meeting in the world", which brings together about 3,000 motorcyclists from different parts of the world, this weekend had a new edition the Christ the Redeemer.

Another of the activities that the High Mountain has as its scenario is the seventh stage of the Mendoza Cycling Tour , which ran from 9 between Uspallata and the Christ the Redeemer and impeded the circulation in some sectors of the route.

Before the total collapse, many of the tourists expressed their discomfort in the networks due to the delays and the lack of official information.
