- "And then, who will save your life?". This is the question contained in the commercial and addressed to citizens in the new campaign dedicated to the theme of violence against health workers, promoted by Fnomceo, the National Federation of Orders of Surgeons and Dentists.
"Bringing doctors and patients closer together, bridging the gap that has been created in recent years and restoring trust is one of the most effective deterrents compared to episodes of violence," says Filippo Anelli, president of Fnomceo. "Anyone who attacks a doctor hurts us all. We close this wound forever", says the commercial that will be launched today on social media to land in cinemas across Italy in March. The campaign will also be made available to all Provincial Medical Orders, so that they can spread it on their channels. The first to join was the Bari Medical Association, which will have it broadcast on some local broadcasters tomorrow.
The spot tells the story of three patients: the mother who embraces her daughter after being cured of a tumor, the man who survived a heart attack and the boy who had an illness on the football pitch. All were saved thanks to a doctor who was able to intervene promptly and professionally. As reported in the spot, in 2018 1,200 cases of violence against doctors and health personnel were reported (INAIL data). Including 456 in the emergency room, 400 in the ward and 320 in the clinics. "Measures are needed to guarantee citizens the right to treatment and to the doctor the right to cure safely. I hope that the bill introducing prosecution for those attacking a healthcare professional will be approved as soon as possible. security of the offices and providing police facilities in the emergency rooms - Anelli concludes - but a new culture is also needed, which reconstructs the relationship of trust between doctor and patient and which enhances the work of doctors ".
