Jean-Paul Philippot, who has led the French-speaking Belgian audiovisual sector since 2002, has thoroughly reformed the RTBF. With a budget of 380 million euros and generating a gross profit of 30 million euros, the group is the leader in television viewing with its three mainstream channels and the leader in radio with its eight stations. Now, TV, radio and digital platforms are working together.
RTBF is organized between a media pole, which analyzes the needs of the public, and a content pole, which produces and buys the programs broadcast on all channels.
LE FIGARO. - You have just been reappointed at the head of RTBF for a fourth consecutive mandate. Does it take a long time to reform public broadcasting?
Jean-Paul PHILIPPOT. - It takes time to transform an organization. Management studies show a great correlation between the success of a transformation and the duration of leaders. A company is a social body, with collaborators and investments.
