The trial at first instance on Julian Assange's controversial request for extradition to the US began today before the Woolwich Crown Court, on the outskirts of London. The Wikileaks founder has been chased by Washington since 2010, due to the publication of a chain of confidential documents embarrassing for the American military and diplomacy, starting with those stolen from the Pentagon archives by whistleblower Chelsea Manning.
The British justice process will last several months.
